Can someone please explain to me, why the f*** are ereaders are so expensive. I just want to read a damn book my God, all they need to do is put a 8GB stick of HDD memory (5$), cheap $6 production cost processor and a cheap backlight and make it support pdf’s.

If you’re asking why have an ereader if you can have a book, 1 you can carry (a thousand) more books on an ereader than in your hands, 2 you can get a pdf file of anything, novel, science text book, etc on the internet (tpb) for free.

@Smiddimizer How is being able to get and carry a nearly unlimited number of classics from Project Gutenberg for free redundant? An ebook reader of any sort is a wonderful thing.

It would be nice if we could have text-books on here, that way students won’t have to carry around so many books. When I was still in high school last year, I noticed that some of the younger kids were carrying bags around half their size (and probably weight, too).
