Online Networking – Social Media As An Online Business Tool

Talent Search and Social Media Recruiting are highly associated these days with several companies opening their social media recruiting platforms. There are very less companies that do not use professional networking website such as LinkedIn and personal networking media such as Facebook to recruit new talent. Why is it important to conduct talent search through social media? The answer to this question is the changing thoughts of new generation who is familiar with internet from their early childhood.

For the new generation, internet is not just a communication tool but also a gateway to an entirely different world. This is a reason why talent search and social media recruitingis highly associated for today’s recruiters and organizations. From an employee’s perspective, some of them think that social media job seeking is wastage of time. The truth is that every employee needs to be familiar with social media to make an effective use of it. If you are not familiar with these resources and can’t present yourself well, a recruiter may not find you.

From a recruiter’s perspective, talent search and social media recruitingis highly connected in most cases. But they also point that social recruiting will not work for every job field they are recruiting. It is easier to find media professionals and IT professionals through social media because most of them are familiar with social media websites. But this may not be the case with people who work in other industries and this is why some recruiters do not add social media to their recruiting option. However, no organization can judge the effectiveness of social media without trying it.

There is no way for a recruiter to deny social media’s ability to reach millions of people in a fraction of seconds. To reach a large number of job seekers, an organization has to spend very minimum amount of money or no money at all. But there are some organizations that believe social media is a place to job posts and people will apply for the respective positions. By following this method, an organization is not interacting socially but changing their interaction platform into a job directory.

This may result in cold responses from people because they still prefer job sites to browse and apply for jobs. The primary aim of social media is to communicate with many people thus getting their attention into your organization. This way, some interested candidates may mention their interest to work with your organization or you can mention to a candidate about a job opening in your company. This way, the recruitment is more interactive and you have a rough idea about the candidate even before the interview.

There is no doubt that talent search and social media recruitingis highly associated with each other and both are something any recruiter can’t avoid. Talent search through social media help both employees and the recruiting agencies to find the right people they can work with, which is a very important concern in recruitment.
